Kingston, ON – November 24, 2016) – The annual Empire Life United Way campaign raised more than $237,000 in donations from employees, retirees and event fundraising to benefit United Ways across Canada. The company matched all employee and retiree pledges, dollar for dollar.

“Having the company match employee and retiree donations is amazing, and we are so happy that we could come together to help our communities in this way,” said Ryan Jeffrey, one of the co-chairs of the employee-led campaign. “The theme of our campaign this year was ‘inspire’ and I think we are all inspired by the work of the many agencies of United Ways across Canada and personally, I’m inspired by the generosity and caring hearts of our employee volunteers who gave so much of their time and talents to help make this campaign a success,” he adds.

In Kingston, the campaign team raised funds and awareness while inspiring employees with real-life stories of how their donations make a difference. Rounding out the awareness activities were fundraising events like the ever-popular bake sale, silent auction, raffles, chili cook-offs and more. Other Empire Life offices in Toronto, Burlington and Montréal also led campaigns to benefit United Ways in their communities. Almost $175,000 of the total raised will be directed to the United Way of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington.

“We want to thank all of our employees, retirees and the many local businesses that supported our campaign with prize donations and silent auction contributions,” added Ryan. “We couldn’t have achieved this incredible result without their support.”
