Care and support for globally-mobile employees coping with a loss or major disruption
Empire Life has enhanced its our Voyageur Global Benefits portfolio of expat benefits, effective August 1, to include a Grief Counselling service in the life insurance benefit. This new service provides professional counselling to globally-mobile employees who are experiencing personal challenges such as:
- the death of a loved one,
- a divorce,
- a serious medical diagnosis, or
- a job termination.
It can also provide information to help plan members address financial or legal needs, and more.
Delivered by LifeWorks, this new service provides access to a team of licensed counsellors who can provide care worldwide. At the same time, all covered plan members have access to the Lifeworks website for self-service materials on grief and coping.
“We’re very pleased to bring this timely and convenient service to our globally-mobile customers,” says Vanessa Lycos, Vice-President, Group Product and Marketing. “Working abroad comes with its own set of stressors. When a difficult personal situation arises, it’s reassuring to know that help is just a phone call away—any time of the day or night.”
“This new service will offer globally-mobile employees support provided by qualified consultants to be accessed from any mobile device in multiple languages,” says Nancy Brown, Director of Voyageur Global Benefits. "According to MetLife’s most recent Employee Benefits Trends Study, only half of globally-mobile employees feel that their employers offer benefits specifically tailored to their needs. We believe this new service will help close the gap.”
Nearly 700 advisors responded to the Empire Life advisor pulse survey on expat benefits
The Empire Life advisor pulse survey wrapped up in May, 2022. Congratulations to our three contest winners, advisors Lisa Muzyka, Stephane Socquet, and Jim Creasey.
This is the third time we’ve deployed this short survey. This year’s survey reveals the impact of the pandemic on the expat benefits, with fewer advisors reporting that they have customers with globally mobile employees.
“I'm excited about our growing market presence in the expat benefits space,” said Dara Brachman, Vice-President of Group Distribution. “We’re continuously enhancing the value of our expat benefits—the grief counselling service is just the latest value-added service—and I’m grateful to the advisors who took time to answer the survey and share their thoughts, in follow on conversations.”
Voyageur Global Benefits offers a comprehensive range of high-quality benefits for globally-mobile employees, insured by Empire Life and administered by MetLife Worldwide Benefits (Delaware American Life Insurance Company) with access to their extensive, well-managed global network.
